He was predeceased by: his parents, James Claude Griffis, Sr. and Katherine I. Griffis (Mary Elizabeth Ellis); his brother James "Jack" Claude Griffis, Jr.; and his grandson Matthew T. Griffis. He is survived by: his wife Charlotte Ann Griffis; his sons, Jerry R. Griffis (Janet) and Danny H. Griffis (Melissa); his grandchildren, Justin T. Griffis (Dreama) and Katelyn Griffis; and his sister Margaret Landis. He is also survived by three step grandchildren and three step great grandchildren.
