He was predeceased by: his parents, Alvis Swain and Thelma Swain; and his son Brian Edison Swain. He is survived by: his son Shawn Swain (Kim); his siblings, Myrna Jordan, Ray, Mike Swain, Martha Fox, Mary Emma Kicklighter and Richard Swain; his grandchildren, Heather Taylor (Hunter), Bryant Swain and McKenna Swain; and his great grandchild Blake Stroup.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alabama Alzheimer's Association.
