He is survived by: his wife Gayle Tomberlin Griffin; his sons, Walter Otha Griffin III and Woody Holland Griffin; and his grandchildren, Holland Griffin, Bennett Griffin, Savannah Griffin and Walter Griffin IV.

Donations may be made to First United Methodist Church 2416 W Cloverdale Park Montgomery, Alabama Music Department, and the Stegall foundation.
