He was predeceased by: his parents, Col. Daniel Thomas Hyde and Ruth Elinore Burke Hyde; and his sister Judith Anne Hyde. He is survived by: his wife Betty Lou Hyde; his sister Kathleen Hyde Albree (Joe); his daughter Michelle Hyde Peel (Joe); his granddaughter Elizabeth Louise-Peel Sheffield (Chris); his daughter Samantha Marie Root (Anthony); and his great grandchildren, Jeffrey Dean Sheffield, Felix Grant Root and Christian Carroll Sheffield.
