He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Kaul and Celeste Kaul; his parents-in-law, James S. Milton and Lyndal English; his nephew Emil William Kaul III; and his daughter Shannon Peppers.

He is survived by: his wife Jeannie Kaul; his children, Morgann Kaul, Jalynd Kaul, Jarrod Milton (Brandi Hall), Jacob Ritchie, Jaymes Ritchie (Devon Morris) and Jonah Ritchie (Lexie); his brothers, Emil William Kaul II (Susan) and David Kaul (Laura); his brothers-in-law, Derek Milton (Marcy), Richard Brown, Bob Brown and Bill Brown (Sue); his mother-in-law Rose Milton; his grandson Jon Derek Milton; and his friend Hannah Palmer. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
