He was predeceased by: his parents, Madison Hipps and Lucy Hipps; and his siblings, Allene Grissom, Frances Honeycutt, Elgin, Herman, Melvin, Richard and John.

He is survived by: his wife Patsy Hipps (Carroll); his children, Beth Smith (Rondy), Cam Hipps (Rita) and Carol Bullard (Bill Horn); his grandchildren, Lisa Till (Ben), Diana Jones (Jason), Andy Hipps (Abby), Austin Hipps (Jessi), Mary Alice Bullard and Reese Bullard; his great grandchildren, Coleman, Henry Till, Miller, Price Jones, Laurel Jane, Ezra Hipps and Violet Hipps; and his brothers, Madison, Levoie, Chris and David Hipps. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews.
