He was predeceased by: his son Donald Ray Barrett; his parents, James Leroy and Millie Olive Barrett; his brothers, Bernie Barrett, Vernon Barrett, Martin Barrett, William Barrett, Blake Barrett and Jack Barrett; his son-in-law Donald Tyus, Sr.; and his great great grandchild Shannon Rawlison.
He is survived by: his spouses, Tula Mae "Tootsie" Barrett and Joyce Louvern "Lou" Barrett; his daughters, Sandra Marie Tyus and Brenda Sue Smith (Luckie); and his stepchildren, Donald Roy Long (Madelyn) and Donna Lou Sims. He is also survived by five grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; seven step-great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
