With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Naomi Carolyn Taplin Starks of Mobile, Alabama, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on January 27, 2025 at the age of 84. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

In the vast expanse of eternity, Naomi shall find rest, cradled in the arms of everlasting peace. And as we bid Naomi farewell, her loved ones carry with them the precious gift of her memory, a beacon of hope guiding them through the shadows of sorrow towards the light of a new dawn.

She was predeceased by: her father Willie Mae Haynes Taplin; her husband John Henry Starks; and her siblings, Willis Jr. Taplin (Bubba), Melvin Taplin and Vera Mead.

She is survived by: her children, Sonya Petrese Starks and Mark Sean Starks; her grandchildren, Lyah Shea Smith and Mark Sean Starks II; her friends, Floreda Derks and Mildred Lowman; and also Benita Starks. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
