He was predeceased by: his wife Doina Borlovan; and his parents, Iosif Borlovan and Iuliana Borlovan. He is survived by: his children, Dorel Borlovan (Kathy), Mariana Reavis (Daniel), Daniela Bray (Matthew), Mihai Borlovan Jr. (Amanda), Doina Taylor (Curtis), Ioan Borlovan (Kimberly), Corneliu Borlovan, Monica Black (Robert), Irina Baumgartner (Jonathan), Lavinia Cogdill (Michael), Samuel Borlovan (Sharon), William Borlovan (Gabrielle) and Joshua Borlovan (Hannah); and his sister Iuliana Cuzman (Nick). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
