It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Kathryn Slaton Thompson of Mobile, Alabama, who passed away on February 24, 2022, at the age of 98, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her husband Vester Jay Thompson, Jr.; her son-in-law Robert Clark Day, Jr. of Montrose; her granddaughter Mary Lucile Russell of Memphis; her siblings, Henry Crawford Slaton, Jr. of Mobile, Edward Bailey Slaton of Mobile and Mary Jane (Zeb Inge) of Mobile; her sister-in-law Mary Knox (Theo Middleton) of Mobile; and her parents, Henry Crawford and Elizabeth Bailey Slaton.

She is survived by: her children, Elizabeth Thompson Day of Montrose, Chandler Thompson Russell (Jim) of Tallahassee, Florida, Vester Jay Thompson, III (Amy) of Montrose and Edward Fletcher Thompson (Karen) of Mobile; her grandchildren, Kathryn Day Watkins (Paul) of Fairhope, Elizabeth Day Lehrter (John) of Spanish Fort, Robert Clark Day, III of Pine, Chandler Thompson Russell of Thomasville, Georgia, James Franklin Russell, III (Laura) of Harrodsburg, Emily Mattie Thompson of Montrose, Kathryn Slaton Thompson of Montrose, Vester Jay Thompson IV of Montrose, Mary Thompson Smith (Graham) of Fairhope and Fletcher Slaton Thompson (Kelly) of Mobile; her great grandchildren, Macpherson Watkins, Francis Watkins, Elizabeth Jane Lehrter, William Lehrter, Jack Lehrter, Peter Russell, Amelia Smith and Celeste Thompson; and her caregiver Gloria Lockett.
