He was predeceased by: his parents, Major James P. McKnight Sr. and Virginia Gibson McKnight. He is survived by: his wife Becky Miller McKnight; his children, Lieutenant Commander James P. "Scooter" (McKnight, III) and DeBekka McKnight Griggs (Wayne); his grandchildren, Jillian McKnight, Jenna McKnight, Laura Joelle McKnight and Craig Miller McKnight; his sister-in-law Sue Miller; his nieces, Holly Looney Pichard (Mark), Staci Fox (Greg Cole) and Hannah Bowick; his nephew Tod Miller (Jessica); and his pet Princess Monkey Britches.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to LifeGate Ministry at Christ United Church.
