He was predeceased by: his parents, Marshall Tharpe and Helen Hamilton Tharpe; his son Randy Tharpe; and his sister Margaret Hamilton. He is survived by: his children, David Tharpe (Jodi), Jack Tharpe (Belinda), Johnnie Tharpe (Rhonda), Heidi Tharpe Ladnier and Jacquilyn Tharp Wright (William).
