With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Howard Phillip Pettus of Mobile, Alabama, born in Alexander City, Alabama, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on April 6, 2025 at the age of 83. He was predeceased by: his wife Elizabeth Pettus; his son Phillip D. Pettus; his parents, Curtis Pettus and Alvie Pettus; and his siblings, Grace Hawkins, Blake Pettus and Lloyd Sprayberry.
He is survived by: his children, Melissa Therrell, James Pettus and Raymond Pettus; his grandchildren, Crystal Mehlhaff, Erica Therrell, Shannon Womack, Phillip A. Pettus, Andrew Pettus, Sydney Pettus, Matthew Pettus and Cody Pettus; and his great grandchildren, Madison Womack, Isaac Womack, Luna Elizabeth Mehlhaff and Fiona Mehlhaff. He is also survived by nieces, nephews.
Visitation was held on Friday, April 11th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Ascension Funeral Home & Crematory (1016 Hillcrest Rd, Mobile, AL 36695). A funeral service was held on Friday, April 11th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
