He was predeceased by: his parents, George Foster Guess and Girthel Howell Guess. He is survived by: his wife Dolores Guess; and his children, Dale Guess (Nancy), Ron Guess (Alex), Chris Guess (Julie), David Guess (Tara) and Becky Walton. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
