He was predeceased by: his parents, Acie Henson, Sr. and Lucy Bass Henson. He is survived by: his wife Yolanda; and his children, Maya (Cullen) and Jared. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

“DR. CHARLES HENSON WAS A NICE MAN NOT AFRAID TO SHOW THAT HE WAS NICE AND A BLACK SOUTHERN GENTLEMAN. I MET HIM AT SHILOH BAPTIST CHURCH ABOUT 65 YEARS AGO. WE WERE MEMBERS OF THE YOUTH CHOIR AND YOUTH USHER BOARD. WE WENT TO BIBLE SCHOOL EVERY SUMMER AND ATTENDED THE FREE PENSACOLA BEACH PARTIES. CHARLES MARRIED MY VERY CLOSE FRIEND YOLANDA. BOTH OF MY CHILDREN HAD A CHANCE TO MEET THE FAMILY. CHARLES LOVED HIS FAMILY...SENDING MY LOVE TO YOLANDA AND HER AWESOME FAMILY. =”
