He was predeceased by: his father Oscar F. Gardner, Sr.; and his brothers, Pete Tate, Bobby Don Tate, Terry Tate and James "Jimmy" Gardner.

He is survived by: his mother Margaret Gardner; his wife Rosie A. Gardner of Millry, AL; his sons, Bobby Joe Gardner (Portia) of Millry, AL, Mallie Gardner of Millry, AL and Roger Sullivan of McIntosh, AL; his nephew Cameron Gardner of Millry, AL; his sister Amy Gardner Hearn of Lisman, AL; his grandchildren, Tucker Dearman, Emeri Jo Gardner and Finleigh Gardner; his nephew Caden Gardner; and his niece Emilee Hearn.

“We were very saddened to hear about the passing of Mr. Gardner. He was always a happy face to see at Westervelt in Thomasville AL. He was always respectful and obviously a hard worker.
