He was predeceased by: his parents, Horace Mitchell and Sara Mitchell; and his cousin William Duncan. He is survived by: his wife Angie; and his son Rob. He is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the American Cancer Society.
