She was predeceased by: her husband Chester V. Hughey; her parents, Dock Otis Vaughn and Ruby Mae Weeks Vaughn; and her siblings, Fay Meacham, David and Otis Vaughn.

She is survived by: her children, Vicky Armstrong (Bob), Janice Mitchell (Michael) and Todd Hughey (Susan); her sisters, Beverly Hollowell (Chuck), Sue Long (Clarence) and LouJean McDonald (Royce); and her granddaughters, Ellen Thomas (Craig) and Brooke Estes (Devon). She is also survived by nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, September 25th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Victory Baptist Church (5481 Main St, Millbrook, AL 36054). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, September 25th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Wednesday, September 25th 2024 at the Brookside Memorial Gardens (3360 Brookside Dr, Millbrook, AL 36054).
