He was predeceased by: his parents, Clyde Linden Shirley, Sr. and Mildred Penelope Davis Shirley. He is survived by: his wife Sandra Shirley; his children, Adam Shirley (Amanda) and Jessica Taunton (Chad); and his siblings, Ed Shirley (Sharon), Glenda Caldwell and Carol Majors. He is also survived by five grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association in his memory.
