He was predeceased by: his parents, Holman Griffin and Myrtle Crowley Griffin; and his siblings, Mary Nell Dabney, William and Sonny Griffin.

He is survived by: his wife Inette Griffin; his children, Robert Griffin (Angela), Judy Weatherbee and Debbie Griffin; and his sister Judy Gillis (Allen). He is also survived by seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
