He was predeceased by: his parents, James P. Johnson and Florence Mae Frances Johnson; and his siblings, George Johnson and Thelma June Scruggs. He is survived by: his wife Ann Johnson; his son James A. "Muscles" Johnson (Tammy); his sisters, Virginia Nichols, Agnus Farmer, Mary Youngblood, Gladys Bentley and Jan Black; and his grandchildren, Jennifer Johnson Reece (Robert Hays), Emily Hampton (Jason), Maggie Johnson (Andrew Flood) and Sam Johnson. He is also survived by five great grandchildren.
