It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Robert Mahaffey of McCalla, Alabama, born in Tarrant, Alabama, who passed away on May 22, 2021, at the age of 91, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Gordon Mahaffey and Sophronia Mahaffey of Tarrant; his sister Jean Alice; his children, Anita McCroskey (Stephen) of Lake View and Keith Mahaffey (Ann) of Tuscaloosa; his grandchildren, Dr. Bryant Mahaffey (Kristin) of Rodgersville and Cassandra Nelson (Clay) of Tuscaloosa; his great grandchild Renna Nelson of Tuscaloosa; his wife Martha Sue Freeman Mahaffey; his siblings-in-law, Sparks Freeman of Gardendale, James Beasley of Memphis, TN, Kathy Mahaffey of Birmingham and Nettie Mahaffey Phillips of Fultondale; his brother Bob; and his nephew Jeff Mahaffey of Birmingham. He was also cherished by nieces and nephews.
Because of his love for all the children who crossed his path, the family asks that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (stjude.org).
