She was predeceased by: her parents, Edward Blackstock and Turah Blackstock; her husband W. J. Thigpen; her son Eddie Thigpen; and her siblings, Murl Bailey and Hubert Blackstock.
She is survived by: her son Johnny Thigpen; and her great grandchildren, Candace Thigpen, Jesslyn Thigpen Quinn (Jerry) and Ashley Glidewell (Matthew).
