He is survived by: his wife Gail Roberts Hanks; his children, Marsha Yates (Charles), David Hanks, Karen York (Larry), Jerry Hanks, Sharon Rainey (Sam), Cinda Thompson (Frank), Wade Hammond (Kathy) and Alan Hammond (Francis); and his sisters, Nell Hanks Rainey and Virginia Gail Hanks Ragsdale. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren.
