With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Donna Jo (Rivers) Cottingham of McCalla, Alabama, who passed away on March 17, 2025 at the age of 67. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
As we bid Donna Jo farewell, let us not mourn the absence of her physical form, but rather celebrate the essence of her spirit that lingers in the spaces between moments. For Donna Jo is not truly gone, but merely transformed, her energy intertwined with the fabric of the universe itself, forever dancing among the stars.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Edwin Rivers and Beatrice Stricklin Rivers; and her brother-in-law Gary Shores. She is survived by: her husband Jack Cottingham of McCalla; her sons, Eric Cottingham (Helen) of Trussville and Elliott Cottingham of McCalla; her sisters, Judy (Ralph Bradford), Sherry Calvert (William) of Cullman and Mary Shores of Cullman; her brother-in-law David Cottingham (Karen) of Northport; and her grandchild Wren Cottingham. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and friends.
Visitation was held on Thursday, March 20th 2025 from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM at the Moss Service Funeral Home (1901 2nd Ave NW, Cullman, AL 35055). A graveside service was held on Thursday, March 20th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Ryans Creek Baptist Church Cemetery (24849 County Rd 222, Bremen, AL 35033).
