It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Alex Cheeks in McCalla, Alabama, born in Birmingham, Alabama, who passed away on December 18, 2024, at the age of 78, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Gurlyn Cheeks and Virginia Turner Cheeks Horsley; his stepfather Claude Horsley; his siblings, Clarence Cheek and Venira Payton; and his stepdaughter Autumn McRee.
He is survived by: his wife Ruby Crowley Cheeks; his daughters, Amanda Collier (Craig) and Karen Cheeks Boolos; his stepdaughter April Mitchell (Adam); and his grandchildren, Andrew Salze, Layla Boolos, Suzie Crumpton, Kristy, Jodey Hogeland, Rita, Shawn Ankerich, Chris Bearden, Emma, Corinne, Lydia, Julia Mitchell, Josie, Judson, Joshua Hogeland, Jonah Champion (Emily), Jesse Gilliland, Carleigh, Abbigail, Rikki, Dezzi Bearden, Michael and Elijah Reid.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 21st 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the McCalla Memorial Funeral Home (4780 Letson Farms Pkwy, McCalla, AL 35111). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 21st 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
