He was predeceased by: his parents, Hillary Reed and Ila Reed; his son Steven Reed; and his sister Connie Sides. He is survived by: his wife Barbara McMullen Reed; his sons, Mitchell Reed (Braley), Jeffery Reed (Rebecca) and Brian Reed (Maria); his daughter-in-law Amy Reed; his sisters, Donna Williams and Linda Wilson (Ed Dunn); and his close friends, Jerry and Debbie Goble. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
