It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Carolyn Cox Smitherman (Maylene, Alabama), born in Rock Island, Illinois, who passed away on May 16, 2021, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Albert Lloyd Cox, Jr. and Fannie Mae Eiland Cox; and her husband James Douglas Smitherman. She is survived by: her children, James Matthew Smitherman (Tiffany Smitherman) of Maylene, AL and Ryan Smitherman Hill of Maylene, AL; her siblings, Violet Beasley of Alabaster, AL, Sharon Lynn Cox (Charles) of Georgia, Billy Cox of Columbiana, AL and Lamar Cox (Lucy Cox) of Fayette, AL; and her granddaughter Charlotte Rowe. She is also survived by other family members and friends.
