He was predeceased by: his parents, Sidney A. Sims and Leona Harper Sims; and his sisters, Edna Pickett, Lorene Lawley, Merle Greene and Barbara Jenkins.
He is survived by: his wife Jimmie Yessick Sims; his daughters, Susan Meyer (John) and Donna McFeeters (Bill); and his granddaughter Allison Meyer. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Alabaster "Bridge to the Future" fund.
