He is survived by: his sons, Charles Carter of Marion and Sammy Carter of Marion; and his siblings, Howard Carter of Marion, Dewy Carter of Marion, Richard Carter of Marion, Hayward Carter of Maplesville, Marvin Carter of Mobile and Dorothy Jane Carter of Marion. He is also survived by six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
