He was predeceased by: his parents, Luke E. Messick and Mada Mills Messick; his brother Wm Dean; and his brothers-in-law, Calvin Wilkes and Crandall Wilkes.
He is survived by: his wife Margaret Ann Messick; his siblings, Rayford Messick (Georgiana), Parker Messick (Sylvia), Linnie Mae Hill, Jeanette Corley, Linda Young (Ken) and Elizabeth Faulkner (Henry); and his siblings-in-law, Jill Maddox (Bob), Jeanette Wilkes and Peter Wilkes (Mary). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
