He was predeceased by: his parents, Doil Smitherman and Inez Payne Smitherman; his son Jeff Smitherman; and his siblings, Daniel Smitherman, Roland Smitherman, Bobby Smitherman, Randy Smitherman and Alice Faye Carter.
He is survived by: his wife Charlotte Smitherman; his daughters, Gina Sanders (Johnny) and Tammy Garrett (Phillip); his grandchildren, Amy, Christy, Jason, Tyler, Kendall, Cory, Haley, Mitch and Matt; his great grandchildren, Katlyn, Coley, Carlee, Caylee, Bowen, Malley, Ayden, Mia, Brianne and Gus; his great great grandchildren, Rylee, Isla and Nora; and his siblings, Net Smitherman, Wanda Bistline (Steve) and Roger Smitherman (Bonnie). He is also survived by other relatives and close family friends.
