He was predeceased by: his father Doyle Roscoe Smitherman; his daughter Deitra Cooper; his mother Inez Smitherman; and his siblings, Daniel Smitherman, Randy Smitherman, Roland Smitherman and Alice Faye Carter.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Jane Smitherman of Maplesville; his children, Bobby Ray Smitherman (Catherine) of Maplesville and Tereasa Wallace (Kenneth) of Maplesville; his siblings, Doug Smitherman (Charlotte) of Maplesville, Roger Smitherman (Bonnie) of Maplesville, Wanda Bistline (Steve) of Pensacola, FL and Annette Smitherman of Maplesville; and his son-in-law Alan Cooper of Maplesville. He is also survived by 6 Grandchildren; 5 Great Grandchildren.
