He was predeceased by: his brother Walt; and his nephew Clint Chaney. He is survived by: his wife Brenda Louise Earls Chaney; his children, Christie Chaney McKee (Tom), Dr. Martin McKinley Chaney (Lisa) and Karmen Chaney Somers (Wayne Melvin); his grandchildren, Dr. Taylor McKinley Chaney (Sarah) and Alex Somers Stansell (Adam); his children, Claire Elise (McKee), King (Mitchell), Georgia, John Jackson Somers (Sharon), Abbie Caroline (McKee), Brock (Alex) and Ragan Thomas Chaney (Mallory); his great grandchildren, Henry Thompson King and Vivian Mae Somers; his siblings, Merrill Eugene Chaney (Priscilla), John Chaney, Phillip Chaney (Angel), Patricia Ann Voce (Walter), Sarah Chaney Cox (Don) and Joyce Chaney; his uncle Hosea Chaney (Gay) of Huntsville, AL; and his siblings-in-law, Don, Carol Sanders, Ronnie, Pamala Collie, Robert, Barbara Earls, Jerry Earls, Kenneth Earls and Sue Chaney.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Judes Children's Hospital, Amedisys Hospice, or the Bible Department at Madison Academy.
