He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Knapp and Ruth Knapp. He is survived by: his children, Natalie Rickert (Ryan), Sarah Barnes (Tommy), Sam Knapp, Mary Beth Vaughn (Chris) and Rachel Knapp; his grandchildren, Alethea, London, Haven, Alistair Rickert and Thomas Barnes; and his siblings, Nancy Hurley (John), Carol Kociscak (Bill) and Bob Knapp. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Mighty Oaks Foundation.
