He was predeceased by: his parents, William "Tank" Tankersley Stephenson and Era Bell Cornett Stephenson; and his brother Charles (Marvin Stephenson). He is survived by: his wife Susan Lynn Stephenson; his stepsons, David Franklin, Tommy Franklin (Allison), Danny Wright (Mallory) and Andy Wright (Charlsi); his siblings, Ann Taylor and Tom; and his grandchildren, Heather Butts (Josh), Brittany Franklin, Kyle Franklin (Amy), Zach Franklin, Alex Franklin, Lucas Wright, Marlee Wright, Abbi Wright, Harper Allen and Kase Wright.

Over the last several years, he developed Alzheimer's, which took his memory from him.
