She was predeceased by: her former husband A. Michael Gates; and her parents, Max A. Phillips and Shirley Ann Phillips. She is survived by: her husband John; her sons, Keuler Michael and Phillip Trenton; her grandson Traceson; and her brother Max W. Phillips. She is also survived by many other family members and close friends.

A funeral service was held on Saturday, November 2nd 2024 at 2:00 PM at the Loxley Presbyterian Church (62 N Cypress St, Loxley, AL 36551).
