It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Barbara June McCarty of Loachapoka, Alabama, born in Hornell, New York, who passed away on September 29, 2024, at the age of 84, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Orian Sherman and Clara Sherman; her sister Elaine Boyle; and her son Donald J. Marshall. She is survived by: her husband Hugh McCarty; her children, Clara Baker (Earl) of Dadeville, Kelley Tidwell (David) of Opelika, Linda Pattillo (Arnold) of Notasulga and Paul McCarty (Kathy) of Auburn; her grandchildren, Micheal Pattillo (Laura), April Pattillo, Amanda Sanspree (Shane), Jessica Baker, Edward Baker (Julie), Jermie White (Alex), John White (Kady), Arin McCarty (Courtney), Charles "Alex" McCarty, Anita Marshall, Shannon Marshall, Sherri Marshall and Donald Marshall; and her brother John Sherman (Donna) of Whitney Point.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 3rd 2024 from 12:30 PM to 1:45 PM at the Frederick-Dean Funeral Home & Crematory (1801 Frederick Rd, Opelika, AL 36801). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 3rd 2024 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
