He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Wayne Spears and Trula McKinley Spears; his siblings, Wayne Spears and Bettye Perrine; his brother-in-law Loyd Perrine; his sister Louise Cross; and his brother-in-law R. B. Cross.
He is survived by: his wife Glenda Stegall Spears; his children, Carolyn Wilson (Roy), Bobby "Smokey" Spears, Jr. (Autumn), Debra Beaird and Ann Vanderburg (Steve); his brother Gary Spears (Chaunna); his sister-in-law Edna Spears; and his grandchildren, Heather Smith, Megan Burmester (Ben), Stephanie Falloway (Benji), Christina Booth (Nick), Brittany Morris (Jason) and Skyler Vanderburg. He is also survived by many loving great grandchildren.
