He was predeceased by: his wife Ruby Nell Allison Boyd; his siblings, William Calvin Boyd and Anita Boyd Jenkins; and his grandchild Thad Abernathy. He is survived by: his children, Gambrell Boyd (Patsy) of Livingston and Gloria Boyd Abernathy of Enterprise, AL; and his grandchildren, Amanda Boyd Strohm, Jory Jefferson Boyd, Tracy Boyd Bell, Melinda Boyd Brown, John "Bip" Burage, Gabe Abernathy and Rissie Burage Martin.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Boyd Cemetery in Boyd, Alabama.
