He was predeceased by: his daughter Dawn B. Clark; and his parents, William Monroe Boykin and Stella Mae Trull-Boykin. He is survived by: his wife Peggy D. Gibson-Boykin of Lisman, AL; his children, Billy James Boykin, Jr. (Kaye) of Butler, AL, Andre Craig Boykin of Richton, MS, Mona B Clayton (Lewis) of Lauderdale, MS and Nina B. Butler (Gregg) of Lisman, AL; his son-in-law Keith Clark of Gilbertown, AL; and his siblings, Brad Boykin (Martha) of Meridian, MS, Bruce Boykin (Diane) of Lisman, AL, Sybil Boykin of Lisman, AL, Ruth Lawson of Monroe, LA, Marie Hoidahl of Meridian, MS and Meryl Boykin of Thomasville, AL. He is also survived by eighteen grandchildren, and twenty seven great grandchildren.
