He was predeceased by: his parents, Mack Franklin and Tula Gaither Sparks. He is survived by: his wife Micah Smith Sparks; his sons, Michael Franklin Sparks "Mike" (Sheila) and James Wesley Sparks "Jim" (Denise); his grandchildren, Amy Sparks, Micah Sparks Knott (Bragg), Deana Sparks Jenkins (Anthony) and James Russell Sparks (Santana); and his sister-in-law Charlene Yates (Kenneth). He is also survived by seven great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations be made in Mr. Sparks honor to the Barfield Baptist Church Children's ministry, Clay County Home Health and Hospice of Clay County.
