He was predeceased by: his parents, William Everett and Bertha Sealy Stokes; and his siblings, Charles Everett Stokes, Willie Argyle Stokes, Lalene Stokes McGilberry Jordan and Anniece Stokes Clark.
He is survived by: his wife Emmie Nell Bridges Stokes; his daughters, Dianne Stokes Wiggins and Beverly Barr (Gary); his grandchildren, David Wesley Wiggins, Emily Grey Wiggins Shaw (Steven) and Warren Matthew Barr; and his siblings, James Winston Stokes (Katherine), Elvin Myles Stokes (Violet), Billy Gaines Stokes (Charlotte) and Phyllis Grey Stokes Jackson (James). He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
