He is survived by: his wife Kathy S. Akins; his mother Barbara Pate Akins; and his siblings, David Akins, Patrick Akins (Leigh), Paul Akins, Glen Akins (Amy Jo) and Teri Moore (Steve). He is also survived by thirteen nieces and nephews and one great nephew.
