He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Eugene Gillespie and Estel Gillespie; his daughters, Donna Philen (Pat) of Linden, AL. and Midge Peppenhorst (Jim) of Linden, AL; his brother Paul Gillespie of Sylacauga, AL; his grandchildren, Mary Margaret Averitt (Brad), Doanan Philen (Hannah), Cameron Peppenhorst and Claudia Peppenhorst; his great grandchild Whitman Sanders Averitt; and his wife Dorothy S. Gillespie.
