He was predeceased by: his parents, James Odus and Mary Ritter Thigpen; his brother James Lloyd Thigpen; and his siblings-in-law, Joye Thigpen and Herbert A. Green.
He is survived by: his wife Carroll Shelton Thigpen; his sister Treva Green of Killen; his children, John Gregory Thigpen (Teresa) of Lexington, Patrick Thigpen of Killen, Jeremy Thigpen (Heather) of Florence and Melissa Isbell (Bob) of Franklin, TN; his grandchildren, Nathan Thigpen (Claudia), Zackary Thigpen of Lexington, Kelby Isbell (Jordan) of Basehor, KS, Shelton Seth Isbell of Franklin, TN and Wendy Rickard (Eric) of Killen; and his great grandchildren, Carolynn, Lillian Rickard, Morgan Isbell, Caroline Thigpen and Carter Thigpen. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
