With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Irene Austin of Leighton, Alabama, who passed away on October 14, 2023 at the age of 97. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Monroe Chaney and Lola Mae Matlock Chaney; her husband James Homer Austin; her siblings, Lena Isbell, Louise Chaney Terry, Christine Berryhill Minor, Grady Chaney and Robert "Bob" Chaney; and her son-in-law David Bruce Gargis.
She is survived by: her children, Ricky Lenn Austin (Donna) of Leighton and Wanda Kay Gargis of Sheffield; her sister Loretta Dickerson; her grandchildren, Scott Gargis (Tina), Misty Austin Tucker and Cody Austin; her great grandchildren, Gabrielle Loustaunau, Paiden Tucker, Ricklen Tucker, Addison Austin, Layla Kate Austin, Jessica Schrimsher and Andrew Schrimsher; and also Rashawn Giles.
