He was predeceased by: his daughter Joan Buckner; his brother Doug Thomas; his grandson Ryan Barber; and his parents, James Thomas and Mary Thomas.

He is survived by: his wife Janice Thomas; his children, Beth Barber (Layne), David Thomas (Lori) and Steven Thomas (Judy); and his siblings, Martha Hollis, Wanda Isbell (Gene), Belinda Barnes (Doug) and Ray Thomas (Sandy). He is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
