He was predeceased by: his parents, Nolen Floyd Smitherman and Evie Braswell Smitherman; and his wife Joyce Scott Smitherman. He is survived by: his sisters, Brenda Smitherman of Jemison and Margie Smitherman (Steve Lucas) of Jemison; and his nephews, Davy Lee Minor (Anna) of Hoover, Scotty Smith (Megan) of Jemison and Steven Lucas (Bridget) of Jemison. He is also survived by great nephews, great nieces and other relatives.
