He was predeceased by: his mother Earnestine Wheat; his wife June Wheat; his father Cleveland Wheat Sr.; his brother Robert Wheat; and his grandchildren, Adam Spires and Dorothy June Workman.

He is survived by: his daughters, Brenda Bailey (Jeff), Suzie Britt (Donnie) of Valley, AL, Cheryl Farr (Wendell) of Cusseta, AL and RoxAnne Henderson (Todd) of Arab, AL; and his siblings, Peggy McManus of Lanett, AL, Ruby Harper of Beauregard, AL and Cleveland Wheat of Lanett, AL. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
